Meet the Filipino stan who is marecakes with Red Velvet’s Wendy

The queens are finally back after an excruciatingly long wait. With Red Velvet’s mini album “Queendom” already out, we’re enjoying a ton of new content from the girls.

This includes clips from voice calls with Reveluvs. Recently, Filipino stan and vlogger Amiel Lopez got to talk with Wendy. His biggest flex? He got to teach her the term marecakes now. She also called herself a “lucky girl” after he told her that he got her photocard. How cute is that? We love seeing a local Reveluv thriving.

We had a chat with him about what it was like to meet his fave and how you can get your chance, too.

Your TikToks about your call with Wendy blew up! How does it feel to be a successful Reveluv?

I am still blown away with the number of views and followers that I have received (and I’m still receiving). Honestly, talking to Wendy is a once in a lifetime experience. I just feel very grateful.

Why did you teach her marecakes out of all the Filipino words?

Marecakes is a funny word that means a lot to me now. I just thought that it sounded very funny, especially if an idol says it ’cause we often use the term between friends. I just wanted to treat Wendy like how a “sweet friend” would when we talked.

The other word that I was considering teaching her was twinnie ’cause we have the same birthday. But one of my friends suggested that I choose  something that other Filipino fans could appreciate more.

Did you expect how game she would be when you asked her to strike a couple of poses?

I really didn’t expect that she would go the extra mile for that! It wasn’t shown in the TikToks but I showed her some poses while sitting down. I thought that she’d just pose while sitting [but she stood on top of her chair]. She really went beyond my expectations. Her energy and eagerness to talk to us was really something else. She’s too precious.

We saw the Wendy standee behind you during the call. Is it one of a kind?

I believe so. I had the standee personalized and rushed ’cause I wanted Wendy to see it.

Since we mentioned TikTok, are there any fun “Queendom” content from Filipino Reveluvs that we should look out for? During “Psycho” era, we had the catchy “Psycho” x “Zebbiana” remix.

Filipino Reveluvs are amazing, I swear. We may be “quiet fans.” But when Red Velvet releases something, we’re 101% there.

Before the official teaser and music video were released, there were edits on Twitter for the spoiler clippet of “Queendom” from an episode of “MMTG.” Me and two of my friends copied the dance even though it wasn’t the official choreo yet. It reached a lot of Red Velvet support pages from different countries. Other fans even said, “Only Reveluvs can make an unofficial dance challenge be an official dance challenge.”

Got any tips for other stans who also want to score a voicemail with their faves?

I based these off the experience of some of my friends who participated in video call events of other K-pop groups.

  1. Save a lot of money because you’ll be spending a lot.
  2. Try to find buyers of the extra albums you’ll buy.
  3. When you’re about to join a voice call event, have no room for doubt. Just trust.
  4. Talk to your collection, poster, or photocard. This sounds very funny but it worked for me and my friends!
  5. Work hard.
