For longtime fans of Chantal Videla, it would come as no surprise that the Filipino-Argentinian celeb is about to make her K-pop debut. But if this is news to you, get ready to meet her again. MLD Entertainment has officially introduced the former Star Magic actress as Chanty, a member of the new K-pop girl group Lapillus set to debut on June 20.
MLD has revealed all six of Lapillus’ members namely Shana, Haeun, Seowon, Yue, Bessie, and Chanty. The members look pretty in white in their first teaser images published this week. In her photo posted on May 24, Chanty is serving visuals in a white button-down shirt and wet hair.
In a teaser video published today, we only see the silhouette of the members but the vibe has us guessing that their debut track may have a bit of hip-hop influence like Blackpink’s music. It’s also possible that they’ll take after their labelmate Momoland’s more dance-pop direction.
It would be interesting to see Chanty taking on that genre since we’ve mostly seen her cover pop tracks like Jodi Benson’s “Part Of Your World” and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me.”
MLD revealed that Chanty joined its roster of trainees in November 2021. Since then, she has starred in the music videos for labelmate JT & Marcus’s “First” and “Dear You” as well as Lylian’s “Every Moment.” She has also been doing a vlog series with Lapillus member Shana called “Chansa World
We can already see how her years in Philippine showbiz is giving her a leg up. The Star Magic Circle Batch 2018 talent has been performing on the “ASAP Natin ‘To” stage and starring in shows like “I Got You” and “Starla.”
Chanty joins Kriesha Chu in the Filipino K-pop idols club. We’re proud to see more Filipino artists get their South Korean break. Lapillus fighting!
