After Her Book on Breakups, Alex Gonzaga Writes 2nd Book on Dating While In Love

Alex Gonzaga is one to dole out relationship advice, mostly based on her life experiences, as seen in her bestselling breakup survival guide Dear Alex, Break na Kami. Paano?! Love, Catherine, which is up for a reprise. Probably the biggest antithesis in all this is that while she’s writing another book about relationships falling apart, her love life seems to be in full swing.

Mayroon namang nagpapatibok ng puso ko ngayon pero hanggang tibok pa lang muna (There is someone making my pulse rise, actually. But that’s about it.),” says Alex.

By some stroke of luck, Alex confirmed that she had begun dating someone in the middle of writing her new book Dear Alex, Break na Kami. Paano?! Love, Catherine Book Two. “Kasi gumagawa ako ng book about dating, tapos bigla na lang nangyaring ganyan, bigla akong may nakilala na okay naman (I was writing a book about dating when I just met someone by chance who seems alright.),” she continues.

Despite the constant prying, the 27-year-old actress didn’t want to reveal who the non-showbiz guy is. But how does she write another breakup book while she’s in love?

“I don’t want to write another breakup book,” Alex says. That’s why her follow-up tome will revolve around dating, her actual experiences, and ways on how to avoid breaking up, instead. “It will be from my perspective, [but] I’ve also asked a guy, whom I dated, to write something about me—how I am as a date,” she told Inquirer“I want something that’s heartfelt, that every girl will be able to relate to.”

It’s been two years since her last relationship with a non-showbiz boyfriend, as well. This traumatic breakup made her “very cautious” when it comes to boys and dating, and served as the foundation for the aforementioned breakup book.

But Alex has grown wary of relationships. “I guess it’s because I’m now very careful. I want the next one to be [with] the guy whom I will eventually marry. I don’t want to keep hopping from one relationship to another.”

Yes, guys. Hopeless romantics still do exist today—and they even write books about it!
