Live from New York: A Message to Paris from ‘Saturday Night Live’

One of the longest-running variety shows on television, Saturday Night Live is a cornerstone in pop culture, both by taking a lighter side to serious issues and producing the best comedians in showbiz out of its roster. Knowing its place in culture, it was then  very powerful that its last episode didn’t open with a usual gag but with a simple and strong heartfelt message to the city of Paris.

In-house comedienne Cecily Strong delivered a message, speaking from one great city once torn apart by acts of terrorism to another. “Paris is the City of Light, and here in New York City, we know that light will never go out. Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you,” she said in both English and French.

Support and messages of hope continue all over the world in light of the tragic attacks in Paris over the weekend. Even Madonna took a moment at her concert in Stockholm to talk about the recent tragedy.
