AlDub May Be Set to Take Valentine’s Day by Storm With New Movie

While most of us are just busy prepping for New Year’s Eve, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards of the famed AlDub tandem are already laying down plans for their Valentine’s Day movie. Does this on-screen love team ever take a break? Well, who would if you knew that your Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry My Bebe Love earned 1 million pesos just in its first hour of release?

The power of the #AlDubNation is real, and they’re sure to make their presence felt. But a few were quite disappointed with the fact that Maine and Alden were just supporting characters to the film’s headline couple, Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas. So as a treat to avid fans of the love team, here comes a possible Valentine’s Day movie the two can entirely call their own. Okay, maybe we’re gushing (a little bit) already right about now. Yeah, they now have a concert and what could be a movi!

The Kalyeserye couple, known for breaking worldwide Twitter records, has done it again, but this time on the local moive scene: Their rom-com flick now has the “highest opening gross among all Filipino films of all time.” The phenomenal success is attributed to having earned P60.5 million in ticket sales just on its first day alone. In comparison, the previous title holder, Vice Ganda’s The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin earned P53 million on its first day.

If they can bring this effect as supporting characters in a flick, imagine what they can do with just them headlining a full-length film! So much cheesiness and cheekiness for sure, but we’re buying it. Someone please tell KathNiel and JaDine that they’re in for some serious Feb. 14competition as early as now. Okay, thanks!
