VP Leni Robredo Calls to Investigate Extra Judicial Killings

With the rise in extra judicial killings lately, vice-president Leni Robredo has taken a stand and called on authorities to investigate the incidents.

“These senseless and unjust violence must stop. We should not foster a culture of fear in our society―one that tacitly accepts death and one that does not give respect to human life,” Leni says in a statement.

Let’s admit it: At this point, the whole war on drugs is getting intense and messed up. According to Inquirer312 people were killed since President Rodrigo Duterte was elected last May. At the start of July alone, 265 people were killed.

“The rise in extra judicial killings is a call for all of us to uphold every person’s right to due process,” Leni says. “Each of those Filipinos who were killed over alleged crimes were denied their right to a fair trial, and those lives may never be returned to their loved ones.”
