The EIC of ‘Seventeen’ Was Fired During Her Maternity Leave

What would you feel if you found out that you have been let go from your job—which you probably enjoy—and worst, it was done while you’re on your maternity leave? Well, the former editor-in-chief of Seventeen Michelle Tan went through it and we have no words but “ouch.”

According to a report by Women’s Wear Daily, “A spokeswoman from Hearst declined to comment but did confirm the departure.” The Cut also tried to reach out to the company for comments, but they did not get a reply.

We don’t really know what the clear reason is behind her firing, but in the same report from WWD, it was mentioned that sales on newsstands dropped and that she had a few managerial problems while she was with them.

Might be hard to swallow, but do you think it’s fair that she was let go during her maternity leave? How could they have done it differently?
