Dick Gordon to Officially Advise President Duterte to “Not to Talk So Much”

Speaking at the end of the Senate hearings on the extrajudicial killings, Sen. Richard Gordon makes it clear that the investigation found that the deaths aren’t directly linked to the the administration. He also says that he will recommend in the report on the hearings to be submitted Monday that the President should talk less. “I really believe that… As a brotherly, friendly advice, I’m not afraid of putting that in,” said Gordon as reported by Inquirer.net.

“I stand by what I said that President Duterte should not talk so much because I think his passion overcomes him,” said Gordon who also believes that the President’s speeches could have possibly urged police to take their drug busts to the extreme. Sen. Gordon also gives the piece of advice in light of how human rights committees and international entities have called out Duterte and the Philippines for the unwarranted deaths.

Gordon doesn’t, however, stand by Sen. De Lima’s claim that Duterte is behind the killings. “That is the allegation. That is how Senator De Lima wants it to appear. On the face of it, I do not see it.” He also says that Duterte is the type who would “push anybody to kill.”

As of writing, there have been over a thousand killings since June 30, President Duterte’s inauguration. Most of the killings are by unidentified hitmen or police operations related to drug busts and the count continues to rise steadily each day.
