For a Few Moments, Google Maps Was Deathly Accurate

Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the burial of dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani—the family and their supporters celebrated while the rest stood in protest. We showed the reactions of our countrymen, but this new edit that popped up on Google Maps today was ever so slightly unexpected and way too accurate.

For a few moments earlier, the location name was edited to “Libingan ng mga Bayani At Isang Magnanakaw.” (Cemetery of Heroes and a Thief) There was no news of who edited it, but since Google Maps offers a feature that allows you to suggest an edit, we’ll probably never know.

As of writing, the name of the location has already been edited back to its original name. Sadly.
