Why Lady Gaga Dedicated Her Coachella Performance to Her Former Assistant

Lady Gaga killed her headlining set for the second weekend of Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival. Nothing new except for how she dedicated an acoustic performance to Sonja Durhamn, a friend who’s currently battling

Lady Gaga performed a stripped down version of “Edge of Glory” for Sonja. “My friend Sonja is very sick and I love her so  much and if it’s okay with you, I’d like to sing this song for her,” said Gaga as she introduced the song. Gaga even paused mid-song to say “I’m sorry you don’t feel well. We all wish you were here with us.”

Sonja has been diagnosed with stage IV cancer and Gaga has been helping her with the treatments. “Honestly, if it wasn’t for Gaga and the financial contribution from everyone so far I really do not think I would be here,” writes Sonja on her blog. She is Gaga’s former assistant and friend for almost 10 years.
