How to Take a Selfie Like a Celeb

Thousands of likes on Instagram, that same fresh face, and endless comments of worship. What are the right elements to get that perfect celebrity #selfie? There must be a formula—a class they take or something. An interstellar secret going on among them, perhaps? Well, as far as we know, Kim Kardashian wrote a book about it and this is our ode to her. We went local and international, connected the stars, and we found it (barely)! This might be the secret how to take a selfie like a celeb.

1. Take a photo with your #glamteam

Before snapping, perfect hair and makeup can do the trick. So thank the stylists for it, and maybe some apps, too.

Local:

Kim Chiu loves her usuals. Who wouldn’t if you get to look like this, right?

International:

JLo has her version. Look at that smize and falsies care of team of hair and makeup artists!

Reality:

So if you don’t have a glam team, I say improvise. Ask a friend or DIY.

Or maybe not.

2. Thank your sponsors

Or in your case, maybe your self-bought new dress and “arbor-ed” shoes. Why not, right?

Local:

Georgina Wilson looking fab with all those brands mentioned.

International:

Rihanna just needs Dior. That’s all.

Reality:

Still don’t have sponsors? Sometimes all it takes is attitude–and a whole lot of owning it.

Think Barbie alarm clock.

3. Snatch a hot boyfriend to selfie with

There should always be honorary eye candy

Local:

Here’s Solenn and fiancé Nico Bolzico sharing this treat and a moment.

International:

Can you share him instead, Behati?

Reality:

At least you’re still in the photo, right?

4. Have a BFF as pretty as you are

It helps to combine and double your following and star power! Tell them how much you miss them when they’re away (or a few chairs away from you).

Local:

Celebrity Janine Gutierrez and model Kelsey Merritt show you how it’s done.

International:

Celebrities/models/online superstars Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner bond over backstage downtime. At Chanel. That’s how they roll.

Reality:

Or maybe you can bond somewhere else.

A BFF transcends space and time after all.

5. Get a Cat

If all else fails, this is your last shot and probably the easiest. Make it count. Own a freaking cat!

Local:

Anne Curtis has Mogwai.

International:

Taylor Swift has Olivia. (Not pictured: Meredith)

Reality:

We told you, a cat.

We may or may not have gotten it right, but we sure got the basics covered. So if by any chance you find the star power in you—or a whole lot of guts and confidence—this is how you take a selfie like a celeb.

Sort of.
