Aside from Japan, another popular destination this season is Italy. It’s where you make your Eat, Pray, Love dreams come true, and also the perfect place to explore with your family. Just look at how Toni Gonzaga and Andi Manzano took their kids (Seve Soriano and Olivia Reyes, respectively) to see the famous Italian sites in Rome, Florence, and Venice. Not only did they take Instagram-worthy photos, they also immersed themselves in the tour.
For those who are planning to go to Italy for the holidays, we decided to map out their journey for your itinerary. You can visit all these places in just one day or schedule them on different days.
Piazza Cavour
To start, you can first explore the Piazza Cavour (Cavour Square). Here, you’ll find beautiful architecture like the Castel Sant’Angelo.
Vatican
From Piazza Cavour, make your way to the Vatican’s many tourist spots. First, check out the Vatican Museums. These house artifacts and art works which tell the story of the Vatican’s religious history. You can also find the belongings of past Popes in one of the museums, as well as visit the Sistine Chapel. (Photography isn’t allowed inside the chapel, though.)
Next, experience the beauty of St. Peter’s Basilica. Just be ready to brave the long lines and the crowd of tourists when entering. You can also take photos outside the church and let your kids run around St. Peter’s Square. Just look at how happy Olivia was.
Fontana di Trevi
Tagged as the oldest Baroque fountain and most beautiful in Rome, Fontana di Trevi is a must-visit for its grandeur. It is made of stone and decorated with statues inspired by Roman mythology. There is also a legend that if you throw a coin in the fountain, you’re ensured a trip back to Rome. But I think the best part is that the coins will eventually go to Caritas after cleaners fish them out.
The Colosseum
Relive all the Gladiator feels at The Colosseum. Take top view shots and also walk around inside. Don’t forget to bring a stroller for your (tired) kids.
Piazzale Michelangelo
After Rome, make your way to Florence to see the Piazzale Michelangelo. Seve got to see the bustling square with a carousel in the middle of the square.
Michelangelo’s David
They later went to see the statue Michelangelo’s David. Seve also enjoyed the view of the whole city of Florence.
Grand Canal
You can also head to Venice to experience the gondola ride at the Grand Canal. This can be a date destination or somewhere you can spend family time in like what Andi, GP Reyes, and baby Olivia did.
Piazza San Marco Venezia
It’s not every day that you see a bunch of pigeons in one spot. According to Andi’s post, baby Olivia had fun feeding and chasing them. We hope they took a video of that!
