Versace Is Going Fur-Free, But When?

The latest designer brand joining the fur-free movement is Versace. It’s following the footsteps of Gucci and Giorgio Armani who’ve made the same pledge in the past. But hold your applause because we have a few questions.

In an interview with 1843, Donatella Versace said, “Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.” Versace is known for using the material on their pieces ever since Gianni Versace started the brand.

However, Elle pointed out that Versace hasn’t pulled out their fur pieces. You can find items like a mink fur-lined coat and a rabbit fur pillow on their website. There was also a fur-lined leather jacket at their recent fall 2018 show.

If Versace was going fur-free, shouldn’t they start clearing out their current inventory? Or do they still need time to adjust to the change? Donatella didn’t say when they’ll implement the no fur rule, but we’re now expecting a lot for their upcoming collections.
