I love taking photos and videos as much as I enjoy editing them. I’m always looking for different apps to download when the Instagram filters just aren’t enough. Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more posts on social media that are edited but not overly so. They’re enhanced in a way that brings out more color or depth. There are even some fun ones that let you use stickers to decorate your shots. So if you want to make your photos and videos a bit more interesting, try these apps on for size.
Kirakira+
When to use it: To show off your sparkly outfit
You’ve probably seen everyone use this app so it’s time for you to download it too. What it does is make shiny objects sparkle even more like lights and your favorite sequined dress. But we suggest using this to show off your over the top outfits. We even have a list of clothing you can cop that will complement this app. Available on iTunes App Store.
Splice
When to use it: For quick travel videos
Have you ever wanted to edit your own videos but didn’t have the tools to do it? Let this app be your fool-proof companion. Like the name suggests, you can splice together any clips you have in your phone. You can even add music and text overlays. Now you can share your best travel moments with ease. Available on iTunes App Store.
SNOW
When to use it: When real life gets boring
Achieving kawaii selfies just got a whole lot easier with SNOW. Aside from the filters, you can also add super cute stickers to your photos. Always wanted to be a star? Record a quick music video. So when you need a little pick me up from your drab day, just open up SNOW and snap away. Available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.
HUJI
When to use it: If you’re obsessed with film photography
As everyone knows, film photography is making a comeback. I’ve gotten into it a bit too, bringing disposable cameras with me when I travel. But for those who don’t have cameras on hand but want a similar effect, you can download HUJI. And just like film, the photos will take a few days to develop. Cool, huh? Available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.
VSCO
When to use it: When Instagram filters aren’t enough
VSCO is another photo editing app that has been going around for a few years and for good reason. Not only is it easy to use but they offer so many filters. They even have collaboration filters with Nike and musician Taku. More recently, they released a set of filters inspired by Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs. Available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.
Snapseed
When to use it: If you want to edit photos like a pro
On the go but want to edit your photos without your laptop? Give Snapseed a shot. Aside from filters, you can edit other elements precisely like white balance. You can even open JPG and RAW files using this app. Available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.
Over
When to use it: To put text over everything
Animate your photos with fun graphics and text using this app. You can also use drop shadows, rotate images, and use their magic filters. Take your best beach photo and tell everyone your summer mood with Over. Available on iTunes App Store.
InShot
When to use it: If you want to spruce up your IG Stories
If you’re bored with your regular Instagram Stories posts, download InShot. With this app you will be able to add other filters outside of IG. My favorite feature of this app, however, is that you can add borders to your photos and videos. This gives you more space to add text, mentions, and emojis. Available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.
