Facebook isn’t letting controversies stop them from coming up with their next big project. Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that they will release “Dating,” a dating service that’s made easier.
So how does it work? It allows users to create a separate Dating profile which will only include your first name, photos, and some quick facts about you via polls. Your existing Facebook friends won’t appear as potential matches. Meanwhile, Facebook will link you to people based on your “dating preferences, things in common, and mutual friends.”
How about the messaging? There will be a separate chatbox for Dating that doesn’t allow you to send links or photos as a safety measure. Of course, you can switch to the regular Messenger inbox later on if you want to take the connection a step further.
Once Facebook Dating launches, Tinder and Bumble might take a backseat. Wired explains that these dating apps rely on Facebook data to generate matches. But now, they’ll have to compete with it.
There’s no date yet on when Dating will arrive. I guess we’ll have to keep our eyes on our Updates tab to see if it’s coming up.
