American ‘Vogue’ is downsizing their team

With the decline of print advertising sales and rise in demand for digital media, Condé Nast is reportedly going through a reorganization which started in 2016. First was unifying the creative departments, then restructuring the business side, and now, it’s the editorial department which, of course, includes Vogue.

Business of Fashion reports that there will be eight people to be laid off, which includes their director of communications and also the senior market editor of Vogue.com. This is probably to clear out redundant positions and responsibilities, and their way of streamlining the team, but not necessarily the road to closing the magazine.

There were also rumors that editor-in-chief of Vogue and creative director of Condé Nast, Anna Wintour, will be leaving the company but those rumors were recently shut down. She’s not going anywhere, so everybody can breathe.

Other titles like Vanity Fair and Elle also went through (or is going through) a transition period by hiring a new team to replace those who have exited. BOF also says that just last month, people were also let go from Allure and GQ.
