Indoor activities for when you’re rained in

The rainy days are officially here and the gloomy weather is making everyone want to stay in. I’ll admit, I spent the whole day in bed yesterday and I don’t regret it. But, since the rain will keep coming for the next few months, it might be a good idea to try and be productive, even at home. You might be too lazy to leave your house but there are activities that you can do from the comforts of your own home. Whether you’re by yourself or with your friends and family, here’s what you can do when you’ve been rained in.

DIY projects

Relive your childhood rainy days by doing some arts and crafts. You can try painting or printmaking. There are also some easy and fun DIY projects you can do. Search through YouTube and you’ll find a long list of videos to choose from. You can also check out this list that includes videos on how to make your own bath bomb and catch-alls.

Get in the kitchen

Instead of ordering in, test your skills in the kitchen. We have a long list of recipes that you can try. Want something quick? Here are some sweet and savory mug meals. Stay warm with some hot chocolate. You can also make something healthy like a quick Poke bowl. There are also videos on the Internet that show step-by-step recipes that you can follow.

Catch up on some reading

Take a quick break from social media and watching movies during these rainy days. Reread your favorite book or start on the one that’s been gathering dust on your shelf. If you haven’t read a book in a while, you can check out some of our recommendations and why we love them. Genres range from fantasy, food, and self-help books.

Build a pillow fort

Now that the cozy weather is here, get extra comfy by building a pillow fort. Not quite sure what you need to get started? Here’s what you need. Don’t forget to get a warm blanket and the softest pillow you can find. To stay relaxed in your fort, spritz some pillow spray.

Indoor exercises

Just because it’s pouring outside, doesn’t mean you can’t keep up with your workout routine. You might not be able to jog or bike, but there are some exercises that you can do indoors. You can jump rope, practice yoga, and try bodyweight exercises. You can even download some apps that will show you how to do some quick and easy workouts.

Meditation and relaxation

There’s just something about the sound of rain that can be somewhat relaxing. Find a comfortable corner in your space where you can meditate. If you need some help with that, check out these apps. After a few minutes of meditation try and relax for the rest of the day. Pamper yourself by taking a long bath, putting on a sheet mask, and listening to this playlist.
