Sen. Loren Legarda calls for immediate passage of the SOGIE bill

Everyone has been waiting but patience is wearing thin. According to Inquirer.net, “Sen. Loren Legarda on Friday called for the immediate passage of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality bill.”

In a statement she said, “The State should protect the rights of all its citizens, which include members of the LGBTQIA community.”

Sen. Legarda also mentioned that a discussion on the bill has been going on for two years and it needs to be passed. “No person should be discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.”

Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, and Senate Minority Floor Leader Franklin Drilon are also in support of the bill.

With the help of these people and their sense of urgency, do you think the SOGIE bill will finally be passed? We sure hope so.
