Here’s what you need to know about the airplane blocking NAIA’s runway

If you’re supposed to be on a flight later today or know someone who is, please keep reading. Earlier this morning a Chinese airplane went off the runway because of last night’s rainfall.

In a statement by NAIA they said, “Xiamen Air FLight MF8667 went off the runway during heavy downpour. All 157 passengers and flight crew are safe.” The passengers were able to evacuate the area and investigators were on-site to determine the cause of the accident.

Because of this, many flights were either cancelled, delayed, or diverted, leaving some passengers waiting in line for hours to try to re-book their tickets.

NAIA also said that because of the incident, they are extending the runway closure by four more hours until 4 p.m.

If you’re traveling later today or tomorrow, please call your respective airlines to double check the status of your flights. You can also check this thread for cancelled flights.

Stay safe, everyone!
