Guess who took home the first Philippine gold medal from the Asian Games 2018

Woohoo! Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz brought home the first gold medal for the Philippines during the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Hidilyn’s total lift was 207 kg while Turkmenistan’s Kristina Shermatova lifted 206 kg and Thailand’s Surodchana Khambao was at 201 kg. She beat the two and won gold!

In 2016, she brought home the first Olympic medal for the Philippines in 20 years. It was even an unexpected win then because they only thought she’ll get a bronze when in reality, she got a silver.

Congratulations, Hidilyn! Here’s to winning more medals!
