Serena Williams’ clothing line is made to make you feel powerful

Serena Williams’ fashion choices recently made bigger headlines than her French Open victory. But she’s not complaining. After all, she’s not just a tennis player. Sure, she’s bagged the title “greatest athlete ever,” but she is also a great and devoted mom—and now, she can add fashion designer to her list of credentials, with the launch of her own independent clothing line, Serena. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she shared: “They say life is about timing. I learned this lesson at age 18, when I chose to play a light tennis schedule because I wanted to go to fashion school. Some criticized my decision, but I knew I had two loves—tennis and fashion—and had to find a way to make them coexist.”

Serena is practically the poster child for empowerment of female athletes everywhere. Now, she wants to continue empowering all women, not just in sports, through her other love. “My inspiration was strength—bringing femininity and strength to the modern woman. My goal is for women to feel confident and sexy when they’re wearing it. It’s practical and wearable, yet it makes you feel good and walk taller—everyone should have that feeling.” She also shared how motherhood has affected the way she has approached this new passion project.”Ever since [giving birth to] Olympia I was like, ‘Okay I have a daughter, I want her to feel good about herself.’ She is strong already, so I want her to feel beautiful and I want to spread that message through the collection.”

Described by the female icon as Juicy Couture meets Balmain, which echo her own fashion sensibilities, Serena’s debut collection includes structured denim pieces, and athleisure-inspired dresses and staples at extremely affordable prices that go for as low as $35. The metal chain strap and unique silhouette at the back gives a modern upgrade to the classic denim overalls.

Palm Beach Slip Dress

This slip dress in the lovely, flattering olive color with the just-high-enough slit looks like a dream.

This black over-sized jacket with just the right touch of gold practically has Serena Williams written all over it.

Boyfriend Jacket with Sequin Paneling

We love a good and versatile denim jacket. The sequin-detail on the back on this one is gorgeous, and adds just the right amount of extra to the ubiquitous fashion piece.

Signature S Bralette and Briefs

Available in black and white colorways, wearing these staples will surely boost your confidence and maybe even make you feel as powerful as Serena herself

Weekend cropped sweatshirt

Good for lazy weekends, emergency shopping runs, or work out sessions, we’re loving the mesh detail which adds an extra oomph to this fashion staple.

Retro fit jeans

Serena takes extra pride in her denim jeans, which come in medium or light wash. She shared, “I wanted to bring structure back to jeans. You know, you don’t see jeans that have structure that can fit skinny girls or curvy girls, but these do. They fit me so well, and, yes, they have a little give to them, so you can obviously get into them, but it brings it back to that classic jeans shape from the ’80s.”
