Olivia Munn successfully had this scene deleted from ‘The Predator’

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the reboot movie of The Predator. Before the release of the film, word got out that one of the actors was a registered sex offender. When actress Olivia Munn found out, she campaigned for his scene to be cut.

According to the LA Times, Olivia found out that Steven Wilder Striegel “pleaded guilty in 2010 after facing allegation that he attempted to lure a 14-year-old female into a sexual relationship via the Internet.”

Although Olivia was successful in having his three-page scene with her removed from the movie, the process of getting there was not easy. According to Vanity Fair, she was not happy with how her co-stars reacted during the premiere. “I looked back and see the guys standing up, and I was just confused because I hadn’t heard from them during the day. Everybody else was sitting down—it wasn’t like this massive standing ovation for him. I felt it was still appropriate to clap and cheer, but to actually make that gesture to stand up, especially in this moment…”

Even if Boyd Holbrook released a statement and Keegan-Michael Key reached out to her, Olivia still felt “like I’m the one going to jail,” she said. “I didn’t go to jail I didn’t put this guy on set. I had this scene deleted.”

We’re glad the studio acted quickly on the matter but this could have all been avoided if director Shane Black hadn’t cast his friend Steven in the first place. He was fully aware of Steven’s past. Come on, Hollywood, with everything that’s happened this year, you can do so much better than this.
