Naomi Osaka might be on her way to becoming one of the highest-paid female athletes in the world. The 20-year-old won her first US Open last weekend against her idol, 23-time winner Serena Williams. Now, there have been reports that she’s about to sign a deal worth an estimated $8.5-million annually with Adidas.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Naomi might seal the deal later this week as her six-figure contract with Adidas is about to end. Once renewed, she can be part of Forbes‘ list of highest-paid women in sports, possibly placing second—just below Serena.
Once Naomi renews her Adidas contract, her earnings will be significantly higher than her tennis salary. Whoa, just whoa.
But Adidas is reportedly just the first of many endorsements to come for Naomi. Just today, she announced that she’s the new brand ambassador for Nissan.
Exciting times for Naomi! Congratulations!
