Michele Gumabao didn’t win Miss Globe but she’s ready to play volleyball again

Athlete-turned-beauty queen Michele Gumabao didn’t win the Miss Globe 2018 crown, but she still achieved a great feat in the pageant. She got to the top 15 and also won two special awards—not bad for a first-timer.

The first award she got was Miss Dream Girl of the Globe. She accepted the plaque while in her sarimanok costume.

Next was the Miss Social Media award. As we know, the Philippines has an intense social media presence so that might’ve contributed to Michele’s win.

Ultimately, Yo Yizhou of China won Miss Globe. However, Michele has nothing but gratitude for the things she learned during her two-week stay in Tirana, Albania. “I’ve always known that there are wins and there are losses, but God knows what’s best for us,” she wrote in an IG post. “I gave my best and I know it was enough because I have the whole Philippines believing [in] me!”

So what’s next for Michele? She’s ready to go back and smash it in the volleyball court, of course.

Congratulations, Michele!
