Last year, we made a list of products that’ll help you remove all the glitter you’ll slap on during holiday parties. And we have to admit, it can be a whole process, especially if you’re dealing with chunkier body glitter that doesn’t want to come off.
So what’s a better shimmery alternative? Body oils that have pearlescent finishes. No need for you to apply something tacky before packing on the glitter. It doesn’t look over-the-top but you’ll still have that distinct glow. You just pour a certain amount—depending on how much you want to cover—and apply directly on your skin. You can even make your own using just two products!
Before you drop by your nearest beauty store or craft shop, consider these shimmery dry oils first.
Reverence De Bastien Celeste Leg Shimmer Dry Oil
We know some of you don’t want a full-body glow, there are those who just want to highlight their legs. This dry oil from Reverence De Bastien is for just that. It’s described as a lightweight and fast-absorbing product that hydrates skin via cotton and sesame oils, and it’s also rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. You can use this after showering, before your cocktail party. Available on Net-a-Porter.
Michael Kors Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil Spray
Bronzed skin isn’t just limited during summer, you can also do it again for your upcoming parties. Remember Pia Wurtzbach’s J-Lo glow during the ABS-CBN Ball? Yeah, something like that. This shimmer spray from Michael Kors will leave tiny gold particles once your skin absorbs the oil. It also has a bronzey sheen for that tanned effect. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
Sephora Collection Illuminating Bronzing Oil
For that “satiny/honeyed effect,” use this bronzing oil. This is perfect for medium to dark skin tones because it’ll give your skin that glossy finish. The oil is also infused with exotic monoi, which is perfume-oil made from soaking petals of Tahitian gardenias in coconut oil. Hmmm, tropical. Available on Sephora PH.
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Oil Spray for Hair and Body
As the name suggests, you can also spray this product on your hair for that additional gold sheen. The trick is to put the product in your fingertips first and run them through your hair. Available at Shangri-La Plaza.
DIY Shimmer Oil
Of course, you can customize your own shimmer oil too. This Instagram video from Artist Couture inspired us to create our own using any loose highlight pigment, or you can use the remnants of a broken highlighter. Here’s how you can do it:
Ingredients
Loose highlighter pigment
Clear body oil
Procedure
1. Tap a generous amount of highlighter pigment on its cap or another container. For this, we chose Gold Digger Diamond Glow Powder from Artist Couture which is a blinding gold shade. Feel free to also use other shades based on your preferences. Available online.
2. To avoid mess, use a spatula or small spoon to scoop up the pigment and add it to the oil. You can use MAC’s Prep + Prime Essential Oils since it comes with a dropper for easy application. Available at SM Megamall.
3. Close the oil and swirl it around to fully combine everything.
4. Apply product on your face, collarbones, and practically anywhere in your body.
