Miss Philippines Eva Patalinjug shows us how a queen recovers from a slip

We Pinoys love beauty pageants. Over the years, we’ve seen memorable moments. Some, we celebrate, some we’d rather forget—Or, more accurately, the contestant would. Remember Miriam Quiambao‘s infamous slip on stage during Miss Universe 1999? This year, our Miss Grand International representative, Eva Patalinjug, pulled something similar during the preliminaries last night. And like Miriam, she recovered quickly and finished her walk with grace.

Instead of hiding from this blunder, she proudly posted the video on her IG account with the caption: “‘Our greatest glory in life is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.’ Tonight, my heart is filled with joy knowing that my entire country stood up with me when I fell at the @missgrandinternational stage. I hope that I have shown courage, strength and the essence of rising from every stumble in life. Laban mahal kong Pilipinas!”

Whether she wins or not, judging from the comments, her move has already won the people’s hearts.
