Reflective strips aren’t just for workout clothes

Have you ever seen people jogging or biking and their clothes start reflecting the lights from cars? That’s because most athletic clothes for those activities feature 3M material. They just look like shiny gray patches or strips but once light hits it, you get this shiny beam effect. This also works with flash photography. Now, however, brands aren’t applying this material on clothing that isn’t just used for sports or outdoor activities. These are pieces you could actually wear on a daily basis. So, if you want to be seen, even in the dark, cop these picks.

Adidas Original Deerupt Runner

A lot of running shoes have 3M details, just like this one from Adidas. This is mainly a lifestyle shoe that has a mesh upper in mint green and a cushioned insole. If you do decide to run in these, vehicles will easily spot you when light hits the reflective strips. Available at Uptown Mall.

H&M Nylon Sports Jacket

Combine two trends into one with this sports jacket. On days when you just feel like wearing leggings, throw this on to make it look like you put some effort. The reflective strip is subtle, but it won’t be once it catches the light. Available at SM Makati.

Topshop Love Reflective T-Shirt

T-shirts can have reflective details too. This oversized tee has graphic print on the front made with reflective material. It’s the word “Love” made with a line pattern. Tuck this into some jeans and throw on a sparkly belt to finish off this look. Available at Power Plant Mall.

T by Alexander Wang Striped Shell Track Pants

If you really want to experiment with the 3M trend, cop these track pants. It has an elasticated waistband and hem, and zippered pockets. The best detail? The reflective stripes running down the pant leg. Pair this with a bodysuit, chunky sneakers, and your favorite fanny pack. Available on Net-a-Porter.

W Nikelab x Ambush Body Suit

Don’t have a body suit to match the track pants above? I suggest this one from Nike and Ambush. Their entire collaboration collection featured 3M, but let’s focus on this piece. It has long sleeves, reflective piping, and reflective logos on the front and back. Available online.
