Nadine Lustre and James Reid have released the music video for “Summer” to fans’ delight, and we need to talk about it.
Produced by James and directed by Nadine, this video is nothing like they’ve done before. Sure, it features familiar summer depictions as expected, such as the two frolicking in a dreamy field, or Nadine swimming against a waterfall backdrop. But there are a few elements that got our attention, to say the least—like James carrying sword and the constant imagery of mirrors throughout the clip. A visual treat, “Summer” is almost like a short, avant-garde film.
Fans took to Twitter to share their theories on what they think the video means.
Through IG stories, Nadine said that’s she’s loving all the assumptions, but “TBH, no one really came close.” But she did reveal that there are so many things she wants to share about the concept and she thinks she’s “gonna have to spill sooner or later.”
