Handbag Edits: Playing Tetris with San Teodoro’s Cahon bag

Have you ever wondered what you should be bringing in your handbags? Or having difficulty editing your essentials down to the bare minimum? You’re not alone, that happens to us too. With Handbag Edits, we show you what you can throw into different bags of different sizes. We also have celebrities and personalities share their bag must-haves and current favorites.

For this week’s edition of Handbag Edits, we’re taking a look at a new local brand: San Teodoro. If you’re not familiar with these bayong-inspired bags, they were created by Harvey Alumisin. Like many people, he has a corporate job and this passion project started out of the blue.

The first bag ever made was the “Cahon,” which is shaped like a cube that has a top handle and magnetic closure. This was just a one out of one piece he had made for himself as an accessory to a wedding. The color palette of the wedding was neutrals, so he wanted to add a pop of color with the bag. After people spotted it on social media, he was surprised that people actually wanted to order their own. Now, he has a total of five designs in various shapes and colorways but still using the same bayong material.

We’re into all of them but for the purpose of this story, we’ll be focusing mainly on the bag that started it all: the “Cahon.” Because of the cube design, we wanted to approach this like Tetris and see what square items would fit inside.

Rawrow Zip 190 Wallet

A square wallet for this cube bag? Yes, please. It has a zip closure, a bill slot, and four card slots. Enough space for all your loyalty cards. The perfect first piece to this Tetris-like oraganizing game. Available on Zalora PH.

Gerard Cosmetics Star Powders

See if you can find makeup packaging that will fit. This Star Powder can be used for more than just highlight. Apply this on your lids for a simple, last-minute eye look. Don’t fuss about brushes either, just use your fingertips. Available at Freyja.

Muji Foldaway Mirror

Compact mirrors aren’t always round. To fit just right in the “Cahon,” grab Muji’s mirror. The lid folds over, acting as a stand when you’re doing your makeup on the go. Available at Power Plant Mall.

Kikki K Notepad

You’re probably used to jotting down notes on your phone, but let’s go back to the traditional way. There are just some things that are easier to understand when written on an actual piece of paper. The bright orange color ties in with the bag as well. Available at National Bookstore branches.

3CE Mood Recipe Matte Lip Color

Yes, we found a lipstick tube that isn’t round. This comes in 10 different colors so cop as many a you want and fit them nice and neatly in the bag. We’re sure you’ll find the right angles after some trial and error. Available on Sephora PH.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara

Can’t live without some mascara? Cop this mini one from Benefit that you’ll be whipping out whenever you need touch-ups. Available at Greenbelt 5.

Bershka Mirror iPhone Case

Your phone will definitely fit in this bag but don’t forget to pop it in a case first. This one will add both protection and style. Available at SM Aura Premier.

Mango Tortoiseshell Retro Sunglasses

Taking your “Cahon” outdoors? Don’t forget to pack a pair of sunglasses. These have a square frame, metal bridge, and tortoiseshell design. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
