Ariana Grande wasn’t the only artist who won her first Grammy yesterday. R&B singer H.E.R. (real name: Gabriella Wilson) bagged two awards—Best R&B Album for H.E.R. and Best R&B Performance for her duet with Daniel Caesar on “Best Part.”
The half-Filipina artist burst into the spotlight in 2009 when she participated in Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing. In 2014, she released a single titled “Something to Prove” under her real name.
When Gabriella returned as H.E.R. (“Having Everything Revealed”) in 2016, she debuted her first EP H.E.R. Volume 1. She later released three more EPs from 2017 to 2018. At first, her identity was a mystery—so much so that Genius made an article to officially reveal her “secret identity.” Hey, you gotta keep people talking, right?
If you haven’t listened to H.E.R., then you should start by watching her live performances below. Because if there’s anything that’ll convince you to play one or all of her songs, it’s her vocal prowess and presence on stage.
