Charles & Keith released ‘banig’ bags for a Women’s Month collection

Here’s one more reason why woven bags will still be a hit this summer: International brand Charles & Keith has partnered with Filipino brand Woven for a capsule collection. This is part of their International Women’s Day initiative to support female weavers in the country.

The collection is inspired by the theme “Empowering Women of Tomorrow.” There are four products including a tote bag, a circle top handle bag, a clutch, and a pouch. According to a press release, they’re all made of banig, or “dried grass and dyed palm leaves,” woven by artisans from Basey, Samar. When you buy one of the products, 20 percent of the net sales will be donated to weavers that Woven supports.

“It’s wonderful to see women use their talents, skills, and knowledge to create opportunities for other women and make their lives better,” Trish Lim, co-founder and Woven CEO, said in a statement.

The collection is now available on Charles & Keith’s website. Add these bags to your summer ensemble, you’ll be helping someone’s livelihood in the process too.
