Donald Trump dismisses new rape accusation as “fiction”

US President Donald Trump has been accused anew of rape, adding to the more than a dozen sexual misconduct allegations against him, all of which, he denied.

The latest one is by E. Jean Carroll, who alleges she met Trump in late 1995 or early 1996, when he was 50 and married to Marla Maples. She claimed they ran into each other at Bergdorf Goodman. “She recognised him as the ‘real estate tycoon’” and that he told her he was buying a present for ‘a girl,’” BBC reports. “She says Trump knew she was a TV agony aunt and the two joked around, encouraging each other to try on some lingerie.” She claims the two of them went to a dressing room, where he forced himself onto her.

Carroll disclosed this in her book. She further said she told two friends about the alleged incident. While one advised her to go to the police, she claims the other discouraged her, saying she had no chance of winning in court.

Like the other allegations, Trump dismissed this one. He said he never met E. Jean Carroll and accuses her of making up the allegation to sell a new book. “I’ve never met this person in my life,” he said. “She is trying to sell a new book—that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section.”

And in response to the New York article which included an image of him and Carroll together at an NBC party around 1987, he still asserts he doesn’t know her. “There is some picture where we’re shaking hands it looks like at some kind of event. I have my coat on, I have my wife standing next to me, and I didn’t know her husband but he was a newscaster. But I have no idea who she is.” He also accused the magazine of “peddling fake news” and called it a “failing business.”

We believe Caroll and while she has not filed charges, we hope there will be proper investigation and the truth will eventually come out.
