REVIEW: At-home keratin treatments for every hair type

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CREAM SILK

You know how some women in movies and TV shows would have a makeover montage? They go to salons, gossip with hairstylists about their lives, and then come out feeling confident with their fresh, new ‘do.

IRL, you can also do that in the comforts of your own home by washing your hair with shampoo and using a conditioner after. One popular choice for this self-care routine is keratin-infused hair product.

In the past, many people were skeptical of what keratin can do to their hair. The common misconception was that keratin treatments are for straightening the hair but in reality, it polishes hair cuticles, tames frizz, and fixes damaged hair. Hairstylists would usually recommend this to people with wavy or curly hair looking to nourish and keep their mane at bay. But keratin is definitely suited for every hair type.

If you’re looking for the right keratin product to use, Cream Silk’s Triple Keratin Treatment Crème and Wrap is right up your alley. It includes two types of leave-on crèmes and wraps. You can either use the potent Treatment Crème and leave it on your damp hair for three minutes or enjoy the luxurious experience of the Treatment Wrap for 20 minutes.

These products are meant to be a quick and convenient way to incorporate keratin into your hair care routine. You just apply it or wear the wrap around your hair, leave it for a bit, then do whatever you need. Just look at how Verniece Enciso did it while getting her well-deserved R&R:

#TeamPreenPH wanted to see if these products would work on our varying hair types—ranging from straight to vibrantly colored. So we tested them out after a long work day based on our needs. Here’s what happened:

Product: Cream Silk Triple Keratin Rescue Ultra Treatment Crème in Ultimate Repair & Shine

Hair type: Straight and colored

I’ve had dyed hair for almost two years now, and I’ve had pink hair for half that time. Because of this, I’m always using some type of conditioner or hair treatment to keep my locks healthy and soft. Note: I don’t always wash my hair, but when I feel like it needs just a bit of a refresh, I just choose to condition.

I used the Ultra Treatment Crème after my morning exercise before heading to work. I made sure my hair was wet and lathered a handful amount of the product in my hair. It felt creamier and heavier than the conditioners I’ve used in the past. After leaving it in for three minutes, I rinsed my hair, which took a while since the product was thick compared to my hair.

I noticed that it was easier to brush my hair wet. Even now that my hair is dry, I find it softer and I can comb my fingers through it easily.

Product: Cream Silk Triple Keratin Rescue Ultra Treatment Wrap in Ultimate Straight

Hair type: Long and wavy

For most of my life, I’ve had thick, wavy hair (that sometimes gets poofy) which, I feel, is a lot of work to take care of at times. I also don’t get hair treatments a lot—maybe some leave-in conditioner on special occasions—because it takes so much time to add product and rinse.

That said, the Ultra Treatment Wrap was a convenient way of letting my hair soak in the conditioner while I do other errands. When I tried the product one night, I was able to do my skincare routine without my hair getting in the way and do work in the 20 minutes I had it on. After rinsing and drying, my hair felt smooth and tangle-free while brushing it.

When I woke up the the next day, my hair still looked shiny, it’s soft, and the treatment’s scent is still there. Perhaps I’ll use this again when I’m going to a special event next time.

Product: Cream Silk Triple Keratin Rescue Ultra Treatment Wrap in Ultimate Repair & Shine

Hair type: Long and curly

I have never used a wraparound hair mask before, and Cream Silk is the first brand I have ever known with such products.

At first I was a little bit apprehensive about it since I have very curly hair, which can be sensitive to most products. Most of the products I use focus on texture and hydration because those are most of the problems that I encounter when it comes to hair. When I tried the hair wrap, I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I removed it and rinsed, I could instantly feel the softness of my hair. The texture was way better than before, and it was easier to comb (I always have tangles everywhere). It smells really good, too!

Hair type: Straight pixie cut

I’ve been maintaining a pixie cut for a few years now (three going on four) so I didn’t really feel the need to get hair treatments because it’s so short. Looking back, I actually take horrible care of it—I only ever shampoo, I never condition, and I lather on hair wax almost every day. It would probably be an understatement to say my hair really enjoyed the short treatment due to the fact that I don’t treat it all. The product is pretty much hassle-free to put on because I can just massage it in like a regular conditioner, do my other shower stuff, and then rinse it off. I can’t stop touching my hair because it’s extra soft today.

Overall, Cream Silk’s Triple Keratin Rescue Ultra Treatment Crèmes and Wraps gave us a hair treatment without having to go to the salon. It didn’t hinder us from doing our errands, nor did it make us late when we needed to go to work. More importantly, it allowed us to relax during our days off, giving us enough time to recharge before going back to work.

If you want to try these Cream Silk’s Triple Keratin Treatment Crème and Wrap products to amp up your self-care routine, you can shop the crèmes and wraps on Shopee.
