Fashion week: The best time to scout for new outfits and trends, as well as get to know up-and-coming local designers.
Starting tomorrow, Oct. 15, until Oct. 18, another season of Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival (PMFF) will begin once again. This isn’t going to be your regular show—this will be PMFF’s fifth-year anniversary and it will feature over 30 designers within four days.
If you’ve been following Preen.ph for a while now, you’ll know we’re no strangers to PMFF—from the runway shows to the goings on backstage. Still, we’re always excited to see what our local designers will present this season.
Are you curious to know who are some of the featured designers for PMFF’s fifth anniversary show? Keep reading to see who they are and also the teaser images of their pieces.
Monochromatic queens: Yong Davalos, Iris Driz, Patricia Samulde
Last season, Yong Davalos captivated us with her all-pink collection, aptly named “Pink Culture.” She told us it was inspired by “Mean Girls” and “Legally Blonde.” This time, it seems like she’s going to present an all-orange spring/summer 2020 collection called “Summer Capital.”
But if you’re more of a crimson type, keep an eye out for Iris Driz and Patricia Samulde’s collections. Based on their teaser images, “Iris” and “Dulce Bellum Inexpertis” will have bold red gowns. This is how you make a statement!

Prints on prints on prints: Egay Ayag, Veejay Floresca, and Edgar Buyan
From weave-like patterns to playful florals, these three designers will make heads turn with their pieces.
Egay Ayag’s collection, “Bakyang Toe,” seems to be inspired by ’70s disco culture with one dress having groovy patterns paired with oversized earrings. Meanwhile, Veejay Floresca’s “My Lady” features party-appropriate dresses with floral prints. Who wouldn’t want to dance in these pieces?
Looking for something to wear at a formal event? Edgar Buyan’s “Bricolage” will have patterned dresses, including this off-shoulder piece with a thigh-high slit and mismatched prints.
Pantsuit power: Kaye Morales, Dodjie Batu, and Arin
BRB, updating our office wardrobe with Kaye Morales’ lady boss collection, “Identical.” It features slacks, blazers, and bralettes—not your ordinary workwear combo, but we’re not complaining.
We also have our eyes on Dodjie Batu’s “The OCCIside story,” which has glittery black pants paired with a striped one-shoulder top. Aside from the pants, the prominent sleeve sold us, TBH.
Arin, which is known for versatile everyday pieces, will present “Uitwaaien.” The teaser image shows a striped jumpsuit with puffed sleeves. We can see ourselves wearing this to meetings!
Ruffles everywhere: Joanna Ngo See, Aurea Vinluan, and Benji Panizales
You can never have too many ruffles. Pieces from Joanna Ngo See and Aurea Vinluan will feature ruffles on the shoulders and around the neck. No need for additional accessories when you look this #extra.
Or, go for Benjie Panizales’ vibrant jumpsuit with ruffled bell sleeves. This is also giving us serious disco vibes.
