Blackpink is the first K-pop girl group to reach 1B YouTube views

Blackpink has reached another milestone. As of last night, they became the first K-pop group to hit one billion views on YouTube for their music video “Ddu-du Ddu-du.”

The announcement was made on Blackpink’s Instagram account where several Blinks (Blackpink’s fandom) congratulated the four ladies. Twitter is also freaking out over the news using the hashtag #HitUWithThat1B.

The video was first released more than a year ago (June 2018) and it was the most-viewed Korean music video within 24 hours with over 36.2 million views. YouTube also reported that “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” is the fastest K-pop girl group video to reach 100 million views (in just 10 days!).

However, Blackpink isn’t the first Korean talent to reach hit one billion views on YouTube. Psy’s “Gangnam Style” was the first-ever YouTube video to break the record in 2012, making him the first solo Korean artist to do so.

Congratulations, Blackpink!
