Good news: The victims of the Taal Volcano eruption have received your donations and are making good use of them, especially the clothes.
Even better news: They look pretty fly in their new outfits and they’re enjoying them.
A viral Facebook post shows Batangueños posing for photos while wearing secondhand blazers, security guard uniforms, and dresses. You can clearly see how happy they are amid the recent eruption that happened last Sunday, Jan. 12.
“Ganito talaga mga Batangueño e, sa gitna ng pagsubok ay nagagawa pa magpangiti,” (This is how Batangueños are, they still make people smile despite challenges) the Facebook post read.
Netizens also had nothing but positive things to say about the photos. One comment read, [God bless] you all, nakakatuwa lang sa kabila ng malaking sakuna na naranasan niyo nakakaya niyo pa din.” (God bless you all, it makes me happy that you are staying strong despite the disaster.)
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Batangas, over 121,000 individuals were displaced by the Taal eruption. A total of 373 evacuation centers are currently being used as temporary shelters.
If you want to send donations, the Inquirer Foundation Corp. is accepting donations like face masks, slippers, sleeping mats, toiletries, food and water, and cash. You can also check this list to see where you can send donations.
Not only will you be helping out people in need, you’ll also make them smile like the ones in the Facebook post.
