People are actually using “quarantine” and “COVID-19” on their dating profiles

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I finally gave in and downloaded a couple dating apps despite all my previous protests. Why? Because boredom got to me and I wanted to try talking to other people. (Don’t get me wrong, I still love my friends to death and I talk to them every day.)

While a lot of people are using these apps to find potential “quaranflings,” I haven’t made my mind up on whether I should go on actual dates once the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) ends. What I will say though is that some people have been, uh, creative with their bios in light of the pandemic—some are straightforward, while others bordered on insensitive.

If you’ve been using a dating app during the ECQ, you might’ve encountered these types of people:

“Quarantine made me do it”

I obviously identify with this type and I’ve seen multiple people who outright say in their bios that they’re just curbing their boredom. A handful of them even indicated that they’ll delete their dating app accounts once the ECQ is lifted.

“Looking for a quaranfling”

A quaranfling is basically someone you’ll flirt with while in quarantine—this may or may not end with a date later on. It’s a common bio among people who are looking for casual relationships or hookups on dating apps.

“Let’s date after this quarantine”

Pretty straightforward. The only challenge is if strict social distancing rules will still be in place once the ECQ is over, which means any form of PDA won’t be allowed. Sad.

“If coronavirus doesn’t take you out, can I?”

If you have this bio on your dating profiles right now, please change it. You sound like you want to murder someone, not take them out on a date. (Also, shout out to the two guys I saw with this Tinder bio. I don’t regret swiping left.)
