One Direction is finally reuniting, recruits Alesso as (unofficial) 5th member

Directioners, it’s happening. After going on hiatus (or disbanding—depending on which side of the fandom you’re on) in 2015, One Direction is finally reuniting.

In an Instagram Live with DJ Alesso, Liam Payne responded to the rumors and confirmed the news that One Direction is planning a reunion. He said that he’s been speaking to Niall Horan about arranging a group FaceTime with the 1D boys since “most of us are in London.”

“I can’t say too much. Louis (Tomlinson) told me off for revealing a bit of our plans the other day, so you’re going to have the group chat telling me off,” said Payne.

“The whole world is about to explode,” said Alesso of the news. Payne also offered him to take Zayn Malik’s spot, which also confirms that the ex-1D member, who left in March 2015, won’t be joining the reunion. (Sad?)

The reunion rumors started when Payne told The Sun that the band has been talking about doing something for their 10-year anniversary.

“We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice,” he said. “You hear a lot of people’s voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven’t seen for a long time or never seen before, it’s very interesting.”

Naturally, Directioners are freaking out on social media. Who can blame them? They’ve been waiting for this moment for years.

Excuse us as we play all our favorite 1D albums the whole day.
