A new version of “A Whole New World” is finally out, and fans are sooo in love with Zayn Malik and Zhavia Ward’s rendition. So much that they’re wishing Zayn could’ve played Aladdin in the live-action film.
A little background: After Disney announced that there’ll be an Aladdin remake, fans started to suggest Zayn for the role because he resembles the original character. The posts died down for a few months, possibly replaced with critiques of Will Smith as The Genie.
When the “A Whole New World” MV came out, the fans came back with their requests.

However, as Hello Giggles pointed out, it’s likely that Zayn didn’t get the role because he’s Pakistani. Aladdin is from the fictional Arabian city of Agrabah, which is based on Baghdad, Iraq in the Middle East. Pakistan, on the other hand, is a South Asian country. Giving Zayn the role would’ve caused more race-related issues in Hollywood.
At least we have Zayn singing in the Aladdin soundtrack now. If you haven’t seen the music video yet, check it out below.
