Here’s your chance to be a Filipino K-pop idol

A lot of Filipinos have already embraced K-pop and idol culture, which has probably sparked some hopeful lot’s dreams of becoming one themselves. If you ask me, there are times when I’ve danced around my living room thinking I was part of Girls Generation. And while I wouldn’t be qualified because of the age restriction, here’s some good news for young fans out there: SM Entertainment is giving Filipinos a chance to become idols by opening its auditions to all Southeast Asian countries through email.

According to the entertainment company’s website, the title of the email should have this format: Name/Age/Gender/Category (ex. Wendy/18/Female/Singer). Video, music and picture (face shot) files must be attached to the email without any modifications/editing. In order to be considered, applicants must be born between the year 2000 to 2010.

If you’re having second thoughts, you can always take inspiration from the first Filipina K-pop idol Kriesha Chu (born Kriesha Tiu). Despite being different from the others, especially taking into account the language barrier, she powered through and ended up debuting as a solo artist.

There’s nothing wrong with trying to reach your dreams, and maybe this might be the sign you’re looking for to do so.
