Jerrold Tarog, director of “Sana Dati,” “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” has made his coming-of-age film, “Senior Year” available to the public. Following a group of ten students who go through parties, college entrance tests, fights with their barkada and puppy love crushes, the film was first screened in 2010 at the Metro Manila Film Festival.
The film also featured a mix of actors and non-actors to give a sense of realism to the film. Aside from that, the film has been lauded for its relatable and true-to-life representation of high school kids, as well as their sorrows and their triumphs.
Before the director released the film on Twitter, a lot of fans and cinephiles were asking him for it, especially because he previously released the shooting script of “Faculty,” the short film prequel to “Senior Year.”
On Twitter, Tarog writes, “Shot ten years ago with a small budget. Still the most fun I’ve had shooting a film.” He then posted the Vimeo link, saying that the film will be available to stream for a limited time.
Another tidbit he shared was that the high school reunion of the characters are set in 2020. He says, “The future is now.”
He also gave a shoutout to Johnoy Danao whose songs are heavily featured in the film.
