Bummed out that you couldn’t march for your graduation? Fret not, Beyoncé is going to be on YouTube’s “Dear Class of 2020” special event. Joining her will be former U.S. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, as well as some other special appearances. The stream will take place on Jun. 6, 3 a.m. Philippine time. There will also be musical performances by BTS, Lizzo, Camila Cabello and much more.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak earlier in the year, most countries and states have implemented a lockdown in their respective jurisdictions. Among the stated rules in these implementations is the prohibition of mass gatherings, which includes graduation ceremonies. This has rendered most of the Class of 2020 feeling unfulfilled, since usually the final march signifies the completion of their degree.
“It’s true, you won’t get the chance to walk across the stage in front of your classmates, teachers, family, and friends, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have your moment,” says YouTube on the “Dear Class of 2020” official website.
Tagged as a YouTube Originals show, “Dear Class of 2020” is a virtual commencement event which will stream for hours. This is meant as a celebration for this year’s high school and university students.
Aside from it being just a show filled with graduation speeches from your favorite prominent personalities, graduates can also join in the fun by submitting their videos on the website. Submissions can be of your own celebration at home, a tassel turn and hat toss of your own or a shout out to your favorite teachers.
