Sharpen your swords, we’re hearing Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Dedicated: Side B’ soon

We can now add Carly Rae Jepsen to the list of pop queens that are saving our summer. The 34-year-old Canadian singer, like Lady Gaga and Lorde, has confirmed that fans can look forward to her new music soon. A few hours ago, she posted a teaser for the B-side to her fourth studio album “Dedicated.” Since “Emotion: Side B” was a cultural reset, we’re betting this one is going to be too.

Fans were already speculating about it on Reddit. One user noted that CRJ has been liking tweets on “Dedicated: Side B” from unverified users. Another user added that the last time she did this was back in 2015. A day after the Reddit thread was made, CRJ posted a video with the caption, “Happy Birthday, Dedicated ♥️.” The montage of the word dedicated in different typefaces ended with a glowing letter B left behind. For Jepsies, it was as good a confirmation as any.

We’re feeling a little spoiled with her latest single “Let’s Be Friends” released just last February. Jepsen had to postpone her April tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic but it seems she still had her hands full in the previous months while finishing her new album. In an interview with Independent, she opened up about how she felt forced to make music that she hated at the start of her career. “I think there was a period of time where I didn’t like anything that I was hearing on the radio, and so I wasn’t sure that I wanted to belong to that team anymore,” she said. We’re glad that she decided to follow her heart.

While some fans are excited to devour “Dedicated: Side B” (as we can see from the tweets included in the teaser),  some fans are more interested in getting CRJ’s lost album “Disco Sweat.” However, she told SF Weekly that it’s more likely that it won’t be seeing the light of day. It’s a shame because we really wanted to get the ABBA-inspired “understated disco, living room dance party thing.” At this point though, we’ll take what we can get.
