‘Glee’ stars gather to pray at Lake Piru as Naya Rivera is confirmed dead

After almost six days of searching,  the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said they have found a body and they’re confident it’s ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera. Positive identification has yet to be confirmed by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office through dental records.

According to CNN Edition, the body was discovered floating around the northeast part of Lake Piru on Monday morning. “We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said. “There is no indication of foul play or that this was a suicide.”

Rivera is believed to have drowned after swimming in the lake with her son. The four-year-old told authorities that he and his mom got in the water to swim, but his mom didn’t get back in the boat with him. “There are a lot of currents on the lake that appear typically in the afternoon,” Sheriff Ayub said. “We believe it was mid-afternoon when she disappeared, the idea being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”

Shortly after the announcement that a body was found, ‘Glee’ cast members were seen on Lake Piru joining hands to pray for their recently departed co-star. Among those present are Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale.
