Red Velvet’s Irene is going to be in a movie and we can’t wait

Fresh off of her success with fellow Red Velvet bandmate Seulgi on their very, very sapphic “Monster” single, Irene is making headlines again: She’s going to make her silver screen debut soon.

According to Soompi, SM Entertainment confirmed Irene’s upcoming movie. “Irene will be appearing in the film ‘Double Patty.’ She will be playing the role of an aspiring anchorwoman,” the article quoted a representative of the company.

Apparently, “Double Patty” will be a coming-of-age movie with Baek Seung Hwan as its director. Filming will begin next month, and its release is slated at the end of the year. Other details about the flick are kept under wraps; not much else is known aside from that.

In other Irene news, the singer will also be releasing a follow-up single to “Monster” called “Naughty,” again under the sub-unit Irene & Seulgi. According to AllKpop, it’ll be released on July 20, with “a total of 3 special videos” to be released for it.
