EXO’s Chanyeol will star in his first Korean film and it’s a jukebox musical

Calling all EXO-Ls! EXO’s Park Chanyeol will be taking on his first lead role in a Korean film.

On July 30, SM Entertainment confirmed that Chanyeol got cast as the lead character in the upcoming Korean jukebox musical film “The Box.” The South Korean rapper officially debuted as an actor in “Salut D’Amour” back in 2015 as a supporting character and took on the lead role in the film “So I Married An Anti-Fan” released in China. While “So I Married An Anti-Fan” was a Chinese-Korean production, Chanyeol’s character in “The Box” will be his first lead acting role in a Korean film.

According to a report by NAVER, “The Box” tells the story of an aspiring musician and a big-shot producer whose fame has dwindled down. The film will feature the musical journey of the two as they head off on a road trip filled with musical numbers and jamming sessions.

Aside from being the lead character, Chanyeol will also be involved in producing and rearranging the tracks featured in the film. Moreover, EXO-Ls are in for a treat because there are talks that fellow EXO member Sehun may be working with Chanyeol for this.

Yang Jung Woong, the executive producer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, will be directing the film and production is expected to start in the latter part of August.
