Rina Sawayama and BTS’ Namjoon *almost* collabed

Hello Internet, who else is freaking out?

Rina Sawayama recently confirmed that she’s written a song with Kim Namjoon, also known as RM, of BTS—but we might not see that collab come to fruition, like, ever.

Sawayama says this casually, as if it’s not the biggest news in the world, in a video with Heat, a British entertainment publication. In the video, Rina Sawayama reacts and replies to tweets written by fans, which includes gems like “not to be dramatic but i would literally drink rina sawayama’s bath water (sic)” (“uhhh, that’s so gross,” she exclaims).

After reading a tweet declaring that Sawayama and the BTS leader should collaborate, she says, “We’ve actually spoken, we’ve written virtually together.” She adds, “I don’t think anything happened to the song. Maybe if you guys pass it to him enough he’ll work on it or something.”

“I don’t know, man, they’re so busy that I’m just like, whatever, it’s cool that you were even a fan,” she says, smiling.

ICYDK, she revealed in a video with Pop Buzz last December that she really wanted to work with the rapper. I guess she half-got her wish? Does this mean Namjoon sees what we’re putting out in the world? Oh my god.

Anyway, hey, @BTS_twt Namjoon, please get to a studio to finish working on the collab. I know you’re probably busy gearing up for BTS’ October comeback but, like, please give the people what they want (I am people). Please, I will offer my firstborn for it.
