Dear Robert Pattinson, it’s not yet safe to make out with your boo in public

Could someone please tell me why the Dark Knight himself is already out and about snogging someone in public? And after recently testing positive for COVID-19?

According to a report by MailOnline on Sept. 16, Robert Pattinson was seen making out with his girlfriend Suki Waterhouse in London. This was the first time that the actor was seen in public since testing positive for the virus on Sept. 4. The pair were seen on a park date pushing their facemasks aside to steal some kisses.

Technically speaking, this was a “safe” meetup since quarantine protocols in the UK only require those who’ve shown symptoms or tested positive for the virus to self-isolate for at least 10 days (it’s 14 days for those living here in the Philippines). However, the risk of infecting others during their romantic stroll was still dangerously high. Harvard Health Publishing reported that people who tested positive would supposedly no longer be contagious only after 10 days since their symptoms resolved.

We have no idea exactly how severe Pattinson’s symptoms were or when they subsided. And even if they already did subside after more than 10 days and both him and Waterhouse are healthy, they still could’ve possibly been in contact with someone carrying the virus and continued the cycle of infection.

Let’s not forget that just this month, Pattinson had to halt filming his scenes for “The Batman” when he tested positive for the virus, with the rest of the crew continuing to shoot only the scenes that didn’t require his appearance.

His body double and the 130 production staff members who didn’t come in close contact with him though have been “working round the clock” to shoot scenes without Pattinson to keep the film’s production on schedule.

It still remains unclear if “The Batman” will still be coming out on its initial release date Oct. 1, 2021. However, the production crew worries that they could lose as much as five million GBP (P313.5 million) should they halt production for another two weeks if the actor tests positive again for the virus.

So, Mr. Pattinson and Ms. Waterhouse, I’m happy that you’re healthy and in love but please stay at home and make out safely—there are lives *and* livelihoods at stake.
