Maris Racal flexes her songwriting skills in “Not for Me”

Today, Maris Racal celebrates her birthday by gifting fans her new song “Not for Me.”

The Kapamilya actress announced on Sept. 21 that she’s been “dying to share this secret with you for months” and that “Not for Me” was “a song that I have worked so hard on.”

With the chart-topping success of her confessional song “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na” and the iconic collab with OPM legend Rico Blanco for “Abot Langit,” Maris is no stranger to the music scene. As a gift to her fans, the 23-year-old artist showcases her conversational writing style and sings her heart out on the piano in the black and white music video.

According to the press release, Maris wrote “Not for Me” to express herself in a way that feels truthful and inherently raw. The singer channels her introspective side in the track and approaches the uncertainty of romance with her lyrics such as “I’m not afraid of one step, I’m just afraid of the leap of faith. I try to run away from uncertainties I can’t keep up with.”

“Not for Me” is now available on all digital platforms. Check out the music video below:
