Calling all Uaenas—We have a date for IU’s comeback

This is not a drill, Uaenas. IU’s fifth album is coming out sooner than you think.

On Jan. 9, the singer slash actress excited fans by announcing the release of her album during the 35th Golden Disc Awards. IU became the first female soloist to take home two grand prizes–the digital song of the year (daesang) and best digital song award (bonsang) for her hit single “Blueming.”

During her speech, IU said, “I am planning to release a new album, I think it will be a full album. I hope to release at least one song in January that can bring sincere comfort to those who are tired and suffering right now. I think I will be able to release a song that is refreshing and gives people strength. In order to become a singer that Uaena can be proud of, I will not waste a single moment in carelessness.”

On Jan. 11, the “Hotel De Luna” star’s agency EDAM Entertainment confirmed the announcement and said that a pre-release single will be hitting the market on Jan. 27. Knowing her mellow sound, we can’t wait to hear what she has in store for this comeback. The upcoming album will be the K-pop star’s first full-length album since she dropped “Palette” in 2017. After releasing her mini-album “Love Poem” in 2019 and her smash hit collab with BTS’ Suga “Eight” in 2020, it looks like the K-pop princess will be kicking off 2021 with a bang. Who knows? Maybe we’ll be getting another IU collab too.
